Black Lightning, portrayed by Cress Williams, is a central figure in The CW's superhero drama series, Black Lightning. The character is Jefferson Pierce, a retired high school principal and former superhero living in the crime-ridden city of Freeland.
Forced to hang up his suit years earlier for the sake of his family, Jefferson resumes his Black Lightning identity to protect his community from the growing threat of The 100 gang and the corrupt ASA. He struggles to balance his dual life and the challenges of raising his daughters, Anissa and Jennifer, who also develop superpowers.
